We are sad to report the passing of Commissioner John (Jack) Reidy on April 25, 2013.  Mr. Reidy had loyally served as a member of the Board of Election Commissioners since 1979.  His smile and dedication will be greatly missed.

A vacancy for a Democrat on the Board of Election Commissioners is open since the passing of Mr. Reidy.  Please send a letter of interest to City of Bloomington Board of Election Commissioners, PO Box 2400, Bloomington, IL 61702.  The letter must be received by May 22, 2013 for consideration.  Qualifications to serve as commissioner are
  • a resident of the State of Illinois for the past two years
  • a legally registered voter in the City of Bloomington
  • a person (Democrat) of well-known political convictions (can be verified by voting history)
  • a person of approved integrity and capacity
  • not hold any other political office
  • available to attend board meetings, elections, and other necessary commission functions

While this position is for a Democratic party affiliated person, the focus of the Election Commission is to always conduct elections in a fair, non-partisan manner.  There is a small stipend for this position.  Please call Paul Shannon 888-5136 if you have questions about this position.
